Delivery

All products are digital and delivered electronically — there are no physical goods to ship. On purchase you receive access in your browser (and a PDF where applicable), normally within minutes. If something doesn't arrive, check your spam folder and then email [email protected] and we'll put it right.

04

Refund & dispute policy

We build for care, not capture — so here's exactly when you get your money back, in plain terms. Your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 always come first and are never limited by anything below.

If something's faulty or not as described — we'll put it right

If the book won't open or download, a PDF is corrupt, the platform doesn't work as described, a paid generation fails because of a fault on our side, or a product isn't fit for a purpose we told you it would meet — contact us and we'll investigate quickly and fairly. For a minor problem we'll repair, replace or refund it (sorted promptly, at no cost to you). For a major failure, you choose a full refund or a replacement. These are your Consumer Guarantees Act rights and they always apply.

Change of mind

Because these are digital products delivered immediately, we don't refund change-of-mind purchases once the book has been opened or the PDF downloaded, or once credits have been spent — that value has been delivered. This is a change-of-mind stance only, and it does not affect your Consumer Guarantees Act rights above. If you've bought but not yet opened, downloaded or used your purchase, contact us within 14 days and we'll refund it. We check the account shows it genuinely wasn't used — that's the only question we ask.

Credits

Your credits never expire. Credits already spent on generations you've received aren't refundable for change of mind (your Consumer Guarantees Act rights still apply if a generation failed because of a fault on our side — we'll re-run it or credit you). Unused credits can be refunded on request, pro-rata to the unspent balance. We can't give cash "change" for a small leftover balance, but you can always spend what's there.

When we may decline

Consistent with the Consumer Guarantees Act, we may decline a refund where you simply changed your mind about a product you've already accessed, were told about an issue before buying, or where a problem was caused by misuse. Before we refund, we review the account's own record — what was generated, which credits were spent, and how the access was used. We may decline, and may suspend access, where a claim is dishonest, where the value has plainly already been taken, where sign-in details have been shared or resold, or where there's a pattern of repeat requests across accounts. We look into things fairly and we'll tell you what we found. None of this touches your Consumer Guarantees Act rights: if something is genuinely faulty or not as described, you're covered regardless.

How to request, and disputes

Purchases are processed by our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy. To raise any refund or fault claim, email [email protected] with your order details — we handle it directly and will work it through with you as quickly as we can. Please contact us before raising a chargeback — we'd always rather make it right, and it's faster for you. If you're unhappy with our decision, you can get free advice from your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Community Law Centre, or take the matter to the Disputes Tribunal.

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986.

05

Cancellation policy

Purchases are one-off, so there's no recurring subscription to cancel. If we introduce an optional subscription or membership in future, you'll be able to cancel it at any time from your account, effective at the end of the current period.

06

Terms & conditions

By purchasing or using Kaiārahi you agree to these terms.

Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access Kaiārahi for your own learning. Access is for one person and must not be shared, resold, or sub-licensed.

Acceptable use

Please don't misuse the service, attempt to copy or break it, or use it unlawfully. We may suspend access for serious or repeated breaches.

Intellectual property

All content, materials, and software remain the property of Tatau Pounamu Limited. Anything you create using the tools is yours.

Credits

Where a purchase includes AI usage credits, additional credits may be purchased; credits have no cash value and are non-transferable.

Payments

Payments are processed securely by Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider and merchant of record. We don't see or store your full card details. Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars (NZD) at checkout.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.

07

Privacy policy

We comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and collect only what we need to provide Kaiārahi.

What we collect

When you set up your account: your name, email and age range. As you use Kaiārahi: your purchase details, and how you use the service (to improve it). Card details are handled by our payment provider Lemon Squeezy — we never see or store your full card number.

Why we ask your age range

PlayBox purchases and accounts are held by adults — buying includes confirming you are 18 or older — and tamariki are welcome to learn alongside the adult who holds the account. Your age range helps us keep the experience right for every age, and to see whether Kaiārahi serves older and younger adults equally well.

We had planned optional gender and ethnicity questions, to check Kaiārahi lifts capability fairly for everyone. Those questions are switched off — see “Māori data and our reviews” below — and will not be asked before the reviews described there are complete.

Your age range is never sent to the AI. Your coach only ever knows your first name, your progress, and anything you have explicitly asked it to remember — it is expressly instructed never to remember anything sensitive. We never use your age range to make decisions about you as an individual, and we never sell it.

How we use it

To deliver the product, support you, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal information, and share it only as needed with service providers (e.g. our payment provider) under appropriate safeguards.

Service providers & AI

To run Kaiārahi we rely on a few trusted providers: Lemon Squeezy (payments, as merchant of record), Cloudflare (hosting and sign-in emails), and overseas AI providers (currently Anthropic for text, and Google for pictures, music and video) that generate the answers in the live experiments and any pictures, songs or short videos you ask for — your prompt is sent to them to produce a reply or your creation. We name these because being honest about who touches your data matters.

Measuring whether it works

We measure whether Kaiārahi actually works — whether people come out genuinely more capable, not just whether they enjoyed it. That's the difference between a claim and a proof, and it's what lets a funder back a whole cohort on evidence rather than a brochure.

Taking part is your choice. If you do, your practice is pseudonymised before it's used — your name never travels with it — and you can stop whenever you like. Stopping deletes what we hold: a withdrawal that leaves the data behind isn't a withdrawal.

Māori data and our reviews

We take the care of Māori data seriously, and we want to be exact about where we stand: a formal Privacy Impact Assessment and an appropriate Māori data-governance review have not yet been completed. Until they are approved, the optional demographic questions (ethnicity, and gender alongside it) are switched off — that collection will not begin before approval.

If you answered an ethnicity question here before this was made explicit: it was stored apart from your account record, only if you actually chose a group, and you can have it deleted at any time by emailing [email protected] — deletion removes the record itself, not merely the link to it. We do not sell anyone's personal information.

Your choices

You can ask to access, correct, or delete your information at any time by emailing [email protected].
